Inverted Yaw Spin: Mastering the Ultimate Freestyle FPV Trick
Steps to Perform an Inverted Yaw Spin
Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how to perform a clean, controlled Inverted Yaw Spin:
Step 1: Fly to a Safe Altitude
- Gain Altitude: Start by flying to a safe altitude (around 20-30 feet) to give yourself room to perform the maneuver and recover if needed.
- Throttle Control: Ensure the drone is flying level at a steady altitude, using moderate throttle to maintain height.
Step 2: Invert the Drone
- Perform a Half-Flip: Pull back on the right stick (pitch control) to perform a half-flip, tilting the drone backward until it’s upside down. Alternatively, you can use the roll to invert the drone if that feels more comfortable.
- Throttle Adjustment: As the drone inverts, reduce throttle slightly to prevent it from climbing or dropping too quickly.
Step 3: Start the Yaw Spin
- Apply Yaw Input: Once the drone is fully inverted, move the left stick (yaw control) to the left or right to initiate the spin. The drone will begin rotating around its yaw axis, spinning in place while upside down.
- Throttle Management: Keep adjusting throttle to maintain altitude while the drone spins. Too much throttle will cause the drone to climb, while too little will result in a rapid descent.
Step 4: Control the Spin
- Smooth Yaw Input: The key to a successful Inverted Yaw Spin is controlling the yaw input so that the spin is smooth and fluid. Avoid jerky or uneven yaw movements that could throw off the drone’s balance.
- Monitor Altitude: Keep an eye on the drone’s altitude as it spins. Make small throttle adjustments as needed to maintain a steady height during the spin.
Step 5: Exit the Spin and Recover
- Stop the Yaw: To exit the maneuver, slowly reduce the yaw input by centering the left stick, stopping the drone’s rotation.
- Flip the Drone Back Upright: Once the spin is complete, push the right stick forward or backward to flip the drone back upright.
- Throttle Up: After the drone is upright again, increase throttle to regain altitude and continue flying smoothly.
