Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Overview
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are internationally recognized standards for web accessibility. The guidelines are organized under four main principles, often summarized by the acronym POUR:
- Perceivable: Content must be presented in ways that users can perceive, regardless of their disability.
- Operable: Users must be able to interact with all interface components.
- Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable.
- Robust: Content must be compatible with current and future assistive technologies.
The WCAG standards are divided into three levels of conformance:
- A (minimum accessibility requirements),
- AA (recommended for most websites),
- AAA (enhanced accessibility).
By following WCAG guidelines, you can ensure that your website is accessible to the widest possible audience.
