Certification Study Guides: FAA Part 107 and EU A2 Certificate
Practical Application and Final Exam Tips
Practice Flying Under Exam Conditions:
Both the Part 107 and A2 Certificate exams require not only theoretical knowledge but also the ability to apply that knowledge in real-life situations. Here’s how to prepare:
- Use Flight Simulators: Flight simulators like DRL Simulator (Drone Racing League) or Liftoff help you practice flying in different environments, from urban landscapes to windy outdoor areas. Simulators let you experience how drones behave in these environments and sharpen your reaction times for emergency scenarios.
- Hands-On Flying: Before taking the exams, spend time flying in different weather conditions and environments. Practice risk assessments by flying near obstacles or in semi-urban areas where space is tight. This will prepare you for questions related to airspace management and emergency procedures.
Test-Taking Strategies:
- Manage Your Time: Both exams have time limits. Practice answering questions within a set time to ensure you can complete the test efficiently.
- Review Airspace Regulations: The FAA Part 107 exam tends to focus heavily on airspace classifications, while the A2 Certificate emphasizes safe distances from people. Review these sections thoroughly, as they often contain tricky questions.
- Don’t Rush: Take your time reading through weather-related questions—they often include multiple data points, and it’s easy to misread METAR or TAF reports if you’re in a hurry.
