Drone Piloting: Advanced Concepts

Signal Interference and Mitigation

As you fly further or in more complex environments, signal interference becomes a significant challenge. Here's how to handle it:

  • Sources of Interference: Metal structures, power lines, and dense urban environments can disrupt the radio signals between your drone and the controller.
  • Mitigation Techniques:
    • Use of Frequency Bands: Switch to a less congested frequency, such as from 2.4 GHz to 5.8 GHz, to avoid interference from Wi-Fi networks.
    • Antenna Positioning: Adjust the orientation of your drone and controller antennas to maintain a clear line of sight.
    • Return to Home (RTH): Ensure your RTH feature is always properly calibrated, so the drone automatically returns to a safe location in case of signal loss.
