Drone Piloting: Basic Concepts

Autonomous Flight Modes

Today, Drones have many autonomous flight modes that make flying easier and more dynamic. At this level, you should get comfortable using these:

  • GPS Hold: Keeps the drone in a fixed location using GPS signals.
  • Waypoint Navigation: Pre-program your drone to fly to specific points on a map.
  • Follow Me Mode: The drone tracks and follows a moving subject.
  • Orbit Mode: The drone circles around a point of interest.

Practical Application:

These modes are great for filming or surveying. Try using orbit mode for capturing a 360-degree video of a specific location or object.
