Drone Piloting: Basic Concepts

Pre-Flight Checklist

Before every flight, intermediate pilots should go through a pre-flight checklist. This ensures that both you and your drone are prepared:

  • Check Weather: Wind speeds should be within the safe flying range for your drone.
  • Battery: Ensure both drone and controller are fully charged.
  • Firmware: Make sure your drone’s firmware is up-to-date.
  • Calibration: Calibrate your drone's compass and GPS before taking off, especially in new locations.
  • Propellers: Inspect for any damage and make sure they are securely attached.
