Advanced Techniques: Mastering Acro Mode for Full Manual Control
Mastering Basic Acro Maneuvers
Once you’re comfortable with basic hovering and stick control in Acro Mode, it’s time to move on to basic acrobatic maneuvers. These techniques will help you develop muscle memory and better understand how your drone reacts to inputs.
Hovering in Acro Mode
- Challenge: In Acro Mode, hovering is much harder because the drone won’t auto-correct its position. You must constantly adjust throttle, pitch, and roll to keep it steady.
- How to Practice: Start with small throttle inputs and practice maintaining the drone at a steady altitude. Use tiny adjustments to roll and pitch to counteract any drift.
Example:
When you release the controls in Acro Mode, the drone will drift based on its last orientation. Your goal is to make micro-adjustments to keep it stable.
Performing Rolls
- How to Execute:
- Gain some altitude for safety (at least 20-30 feet).
- Push the roll stick (right stick) to the left or right to begin the roll.
- Release the stick once the drone completes the roll.
- Key Tip: Keep your throttle level during the roll to maintain altitude. If you reduce throttle too much, the drone will drop rapidly; if you increase throttle too much, it could shoot upward.
Example:
To perform a smooth roll, find the balance between throttle and roll input. Too much throttle will create a jerky motion, while too little will result in losing altitude.
Performing Flips
- How to Execute:
- Increase your throttle slightly to gain altitude.
- Push the pitch stick (right stick) forward or backward to begin the flip.
- Once the drone is inverted, apply a slight throttle boost to maintain altitude through the flip.
- Key Tip: Ensure you have enough space when practicing flips. Start high, so if you over-rotate, you can recover before hitting the ground.
Example:
If you're pitching forward for a front flip, the drone will complete a 360-degree rotation on its horizontal axis. You need to be ready to reduce throttle just before the drone is upside down to avoid climbing too high.
