Advanced Maneuvers and Techniques for Expert Drone Pilots

Matty Flip

The Matty Flip is an advanced FPV maneuver named after drone pilot Matty Stuntz. It involves flying backward under an object, flipping over it, and returning to normal flight. This highly technical move requires precision control over the drone’s yaw, roll, and pitch.

How to Perform a Matty Flip:

  1. Fly Backward Under the Obstacle: Start by flying backward toward the obstacle, maintaining enough altitude to clear it.
  2. Pitch Forward for the Flip: As you pass beneath the obstacle, push forward on the pitch stick (right stick) to initiate the flip.
  3. Complete the Flip: Once you're upside down, pull back on the pitch stick to complete the flip and continue flying forward.

Example:

This maneuver is often seen in freestyle FPV and is perfect for performing stunts around structures like trees, buildings, or poles, creating fluid transitions between inverted and normal flight.
