Fundamental Concepts: Drone Basics

Battery Flight Time

Battery life is crucial to determining how long your drone can stay in the air. Various factors influence this:

  • Drone weight: Heavier drones need more power, draining the battery faster.
  • Wind resistance: The drone uses more power to compensate for wind, shortening flight time.
  • Flight style: Aggressive flying, with sharp turns and high speeds, will reduce the battery's endurance.

Example:

If you're flying in GPS mode with stable conditions and minimal wind, you may get the full 20-25 minutes of flight time advertised. However, if you're racing or flying in windy conditions, that time can be cut in half.
